Graduate and Professional Skills Orientation

Starting with the 2014 incoming cohort of biomedical Science PhD students, all new students take part in a two day orientation. At that occasion, they not only participate in mini-workshops related to time management, critical and analytical thinking, using the health science library and finding online literature, good record keeping and more, but all students also learn how to fill in an Individual Development Plan and learn how to use and update it during their graduate and post doctoral training. In addition, students have ample opportunities to get to know each other and build relationships for mutual support and lasting friendships. All incoming students are also paired up with a senior student of their chosen discipline who will serve as peer mentor.
