Welcome to the OddPols 2020 event web site!

Recent OddPols conferences (e.g. OddPols 2018) have focused on trascription and regulation mechansims for eukaryal nuclear RNA polymerases I, III, IV, and V. In 2020 the organizers want to also welcome to this conversation investigators working with archaeal, mitochondrial and chloroplast transcription systems. Throughout its thirty year history this friendly, interactive conference has led to many productive collaborations (and friendships) and we are excited by this expansion of the community!

Travel

The OddPols 2020 conference will not provide dedicated transportation to the hotels and meeting venue. The conference venue is approximately 15 minutes from Denver International Airport by taxi or other car service. Alternatively DIA has all major rental car companies and there is light rail service from DIA to near the Hyatt Regency.

Light Rail

The light rail station is located by the Westin Denver International Airport Hotel at the south end of the airport, with trains running every 15 minutes between 4:15 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., and every 30 minutes at other times. Fares to and from the airport are $10.50, though discount fares are available for certain groups.

After boarding the A-Line at the airport, you will arrive at the Peoria Street Station. From here you can transfer to the R-Line and ride to the Fitzsimons Station, where a campus shuttle will pick you up and drop you off near the Fulginiti Pavillion (see Stop 2 on the campus shuttle map). This may be the easiest option for those interested in traveling directly to the conference from the airport.

For those interested in traveling directly to the hotel, conference visitors can take the A-Line to the Peoria Street Station where a complimentary shuttle will pick them up. The shuttle departs the Hyatt property half past every hour, from 6:30 AM through 10:30 PM. Visitors traveling from Denver International Airport to the Peoria Street Station on the A-Line rail should call the hotel (303-365-1234) once aboard the train to confirm pickup. Please visit the Hyatt parking and transportation website for additional information.

Another option is to transfer to the R-Line at the Peoria Street Station and then ride to the Colfax Station, which is approximately 1/2 mile from the Hyatt Regency Aurora-Denver Conference Center (walking directions).

Hyatt Regency Shuttle

The Hyatt Regency offers a complimentary shuttle for guests to travel within three miles of the hotel, including travel between the hotel and conference. The shuttle departs the Hyatt property half past every hour, from 6:30 AM through 10:30 PM. Guests can call the hotel at 303-365-1234 to arrange for transportation.

CU Anschutz Medical Campus Rail Shuttle

The CU Anschutz Medical Campus Rail Shuttle is free to ride, and connects with the R-Line at the Fitzsimons Station for those traveling by light rail. The shuttle makes a total of six stops within campus, with the second stop being very near to the conference location.

The operating hours for the shuttle are:
  • Monday - Friday, 5:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with 7-9 minute frequency to each stop
  • Saturday-Sunday/University Holidays 5:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with 15 minute frequency to each stop
Outside of these hours there is no shuttle transportation from the Fitzsimons Station into campus.

Visitor Parking

For those staying at the Hyatt or Spring Hill Suites locally, you are probably just as well leaving any rental cars there and either walking or taking a shuttle to the conference. For those driving or staying farther away, there is visitor parking on campus near the conference venue. Please see the parking map and instructions.

Lodging

For our visitors from outside the Denver metro area, we have room blocks at a special rate at Hyatt Regency Aurora-Denver Conference Center if you indicate you are with the OddPols group. Attendees are responsible for making their own reservations and paying the hotel directly (not included in registration). We strongly urge you to use the dedicated web site (linked here) for the OddPols rooms and to book your room(s) as early as possible. Note that the default dates are set from June 17 to June 21 (4 nights), but you can reset the dates to come earlier or later or leave earlier or later. The Hyatt Regency is across the street from the Anschutz Medical Campus where the bulk of the meeting will take place.
If you really need to book the rooms by phone (01-303-365-1234, option 2) be sure to use both the conference name (OddPols) and the conference code (G-6CUG).
The Hyatt Regency Aurora-Denver Conference Center is halfway between Downtown Denver and Denver International Airport. From the airport, conference visitors can take the A-Line Light Rail to Peoria Street Station where a complimentary shuttle will pick them up.
We advise attendees to make hotel reservations as soon as possible, as room availability is finite.

The Fulginiti Pavilion for Bioethics and Humanities

The Fulginiti Pavilion for Bioethics and Humanities is situated at the north end of the Boettcher Commons, and the centerpiece of the facility is the Gossard Forum, a unique in-the-round auditorium seating 140. The Forum is a specialized space to elevate and encourage deliberation of the most pressing moral healthcare issues we face, both within our campus community, as well with our regional and national communities.
The Gossard Forum provides an intimate setting which is not oriented to a single individual. Instead this space is designed to be equally oriented for all participants, and encourage active discussion.
